The short version
- We collect only what we need to run practice: a parent email, and a first name, grade, and color for each child.
- We never sell your data or share it with advertisers.
- We never use your child's practice history or writing to train outside AI models.
- Payments run through Stripe, so we never see or store your card number.
- You can delete a child profile, or your whole account, at any time.
SSAT Coach ("we," "us") is an independent study tool for the SSAT, run as a parent-account service. This policy explains what we collect, why, who processes it on our behalf, and the choices you have. Questions? Email info@ssatcoach.com.
Who holds the account
SSAT Coach uses a parent-account model. One adult creates and controls the account. Children do not have their own logins; a parent sets up a profile for each child and chooses which child is practicing. The parent is responsible for the account and for the children's profiles under it.
What we collect

Children's privacy (COPPA)
The Middle Level SSAT is taken by students who may be under 13, so we treat children's data with extra care. A parent creates the account and provides the limited child information above, which acts as verifiable parental consent for that collection. Child data is minimal by design: a first name, an optional grade, a color, and practice activity. We do not knowingly collect more than this from a child, we do not show children advertising, and we do not build advertising or marketing profiles of children. A parent can review or delete a child's data at any time by editing or removing the profile, or by emailing us.
How we use what we collect
- To run practice, score it, and save progress so a student can pick up where they left off.
- To show analytics that help a parent see what to focus on next.
- To provide AI explanations and writing feedback when requested (see below).
- To manage access and process payment for full access.
- To send account email, such as the sign-in link and essential service notices.
We do not sell personal information, we do not share it with advertisers, and we do not use it for advertising.
AI features
Some features send content to a third-party AI processor (Anthropic, the maker of Claude) to generate a response: an explanation of a missed question, a fresh similar problem, or feedback on a writing sample. When you use one of these features, the relevant content, which for essay grading includes the student's writing sample, is sent to that processor to produce the response. We instruct our AI processor not to use this content to train its models, and a student's practice history and writing are never used to train outside AI models. On the real SSAT the writing sample is sent to schools unscored; our AI grade is for your prep-progress tracking only.
Service providers who process data for us
We use a small set of trusted providers to run the service. Each processes data only to provide its function:

Data retention
We keep account and practice data for as long as the account is active so progress and history stay available. If you delete a child profile, its practice data is removed. If you delete your account or ask us to close it, we delete the associated personal data, except where we must keep limited records (for example, a payment record) to meet legal or accounting obligations.
Security
Access to a child's data is restricted to the parent account that owns it, enforced at the database level. Connections are encrypted in transit. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and to limit what we collect in the first place.
Your choices and rights
- Access and correction: view and edit child profiles from inside the app.
- Deletion: delete a child profile at any time, or email us to delete your entire account.
- Questions and requests: email info@ssatcoach.com and a real person will respond.
Changes to this policy
If we make a material change, we will update the date above and, where appropriate, notify account holders. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated policy.
